Working With Us
One Call for All Your Home Maintenance NeedsMr. Handyman eliminates the time consuming and often fruitless search for a qualified contractor willing to do your small job. For one thing, we answer our phones. No more "telephone tag". No more endless waiting for a call back. Our friendly and courteous Customer Service Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM to immediately schedule your service appointment and answer any questions that you may have.
Fixed Service Time AppointmentsWhen you call you'll be given a choice of a “first of day” or afternoon appointment. If you have an urgent service requirement, we will place you on our “pick list” and contact you as soon as a technician becomes available. You then have the option of choosing the earlier “appointment of opportunity” or waiting until your scheduled appointment.
Consistency and ExperienceOur technicians are employees not subcontractors. This allows us to deliver a consistently high level of quality and customer service. Technicians have a minimum of 10 years experience in the building trades. They are selected on the basis of trade knowledge, communications skills, and their ability to work well with our customers.
Customer OrientedMr. Handyman technicians are specifically trained to work with home owners who don't always understand the technical aspects of home maintenance. We'll help you identify and choose an approach that best meets your needs and your budget.
Safety and SecurityMr. Handyman considers your sense of security of primary importance. Each technician undergoes a rigorous background check prior to being hired. Our uniformed technicians arrive at your home or commercial facility in a clearly marked Mr. Handyman van, so there is no question as to their identity. And Mr. Handyman is fully licensed, bonded and insured.

Rates, Charges and MaterialsLike most professional service providers (electricians, plumbers, etc.), Mr. Handyman charges for labor and materials. This method delivers the best, consistent value to our customers. Regarding free on-site estimates, we have found that they are not practical or cost effective for the types of projects in which we specialize. In fact, they can actually increase the cost of a project.* For help in understanding possible costs and budgets for your project, our customer service representatives can discuss your specific needs with you, along with typical factors that impact costs. If you are still uncertain about your project costs or need special guidance, an on-site consultation may be arranged for a standard fee. *Consumer Alert: Contractors who provide estimates use hourly rates, material costs, and a risk multiplier to determine estimated figures. As an industry standard, at least two hours of labor charges are added to each project to cover the cost of the estimator’s wages. And an additional 10% to 30% of the estimated overall project costs are added to the estimate to offset the risks associated with unexpected or unforeseen problems. This practice, although practical for large or complex projects, can increase the cost of even basic home repairs by hundreds or thousands of dollars. For that reason, Mr. Handyman does not engage in estimating and only charges for the work we actually do.
EstimatesMr. Handyman has tremendous accumulated knowledge of what is needed to accomplish most tasks and we can provide you a sense of estimated time requirements when you book your appointment. Of course, every job is somewhat unique and requires a certain amount of on-site problem solving. And that’s part of the service we provide and why we employ knowledgeable, expert technicians. Mr. Handyman does not provide free on-site estimates for a couple reasons: 1) In our line of work there are frequently unforeseen issues and an estimate that cannot take into account the unforeseen could be misleading to our customers. 2) We are committed to providing the best possible value to our customers and estimates undermine this goal. Most contractors wrap the cost of doing estimates into their rates. We feel this is unfair to our customers because we only want them to pay for work that was actually done for them.
PaymentWe accept cash, checks, Visa, and Master Card. Payment is expected upon completion of the job.
WarrantyMr. Handyman’s warranty is straightforward and has no fine print. Our work is guaranteed for one year, as are parts and material provided by us. |
